About Me
Hi! I'm Gene, currently an incoming Year 1 undergraduate at the National University of Singapore, studying Computer Science.
I began programming during little pockets of free time I had in NS out of curiosity, and quickly came to be smitten by the infinite possibilities of such a skill. I learnt the basics of programming methodology, and moved on to dive deeper into software engineering. Since then, I've focused on full stack development using React and NextJS, and dipped my toes into other specialisations like embedded systems, machine learning, red teaming, and solving programming challenges.
I've participated in hackathons with friends to put what I've learnt to test, and greatly enjoyed each experience. I've also built my own personal projects, whether it be to serve a need/problem I had, or a vision of the next million dollar VC startup.
When I'm not being some troglodyte CS student punching gobbledygook code into my computer, I spend my unemployed time(hire me) playing guitar, producing songs, and contemplating life's eternal dread and the fleeting passage of time 😀.

Apr 2025 – Present Teaching Assistant • ThinkCode Singapore
Tutoring students between the ages of 8 to 16 on programming and robotics.

June 2025 – Present Engineer • Community Hackathon 2025
Implemented server-side sensor pairing and recognition as well as other UI/UX features. Programmed sensors and microcontroller for receiving compost temperature and soil moisture and then making api POST requests to our web app.

Dec 2024 Best Design Award – SUTD What The Hack Hackathon
Developed a full-stack webpage(front and backend) for an ESP32 based AI-powered assistive learning tool designed to enhance classroom interaction for mute and/or deaf students. Designed the voting interface and processed real-time transmitted data from the device.
